However the next record turns out, Endsong on this tour has, for me, been a career high. I only made it to one date (not been so well) but it hit me hard. So hopefully the story isn't over yet.

I feel a bit guilty about saying this because when they played one of the new songs in Cardiff Bob said when it comes out we'll all be saying how much better we liked the live version but this sounded amazing when they played it live on that gig shown on MTV.

For years I found the production on the album made it almost unlistenable.

Oh, I don't know at this point. I can't discern the good songs from the bad and it's clear that neither can the band. All I hear is ugly production. I'm sure it's the sound Bob hears in his head but it's not for me.
I still have hope for the future. He's more likely than any of his peers to deliver a late masterpiece.

Not quite as much hate for Self Titled as I was expecting over in Birdsite. Last day tomorrow, Dream 4:13 coming up. An odd one for me - I always enjoy it a bit more than I think I will but there’s something odd with the production. Right from the start there’s with some really unnecessary processing on the drums. Also way too much double (or more) tracking on the vocals. I’d love to hear it completely remixed.

Lost | It’s a gnarly dirge that’s much maligned but that’s also why I like it.

Before Three | One of my immediate favourites from the first listen.

Going Nowhere | Sad and desolate but also one of their most beautiful tunes post Trust.

I find Robert Smith's vocals across the whole album stunning if not necessarily easy listening.

I had no idea who Ross Robinson was, which might have helped!
