i reckon him to be the most important intellectual of recent times. scientist, theorist, organizer.

most of his works are available theanarchistlibrary.org/catego , true anarchist shares what others might think is his.

isn't there, yet / since it's a jointly written book, but oh lass it likely changes your perspective about *many things*, if you let yourself to.

he wasn't eco-minded, but makes his writings about and crucial imo.

I've been procrastinating reading because I didn't want to put in the effort of writing notes. So today I decided to read without any writing.

I think I got about a page in before I had to bust out the computer to write stuff down.

The planet is dying, the world is an increasingly authoritarian and dysfunctional place and STILL people with full academic credentials keep asking me what we meant by getting “stuck”…

. This scholarly romp is a two-bookmark book: one for the 500-plus pages of text and another for the notes. This provocative, whirlwind survey of humans across time and space leaves me in awe of our earliest ancestors – for their audacity and adaptability, their creativity, and their quirkiness!

I have some time for myself today, in a strange way, as I wait before my weekend shift at Sesc, and I'm reading Graeber & Wengrow's
Makes one wonder if we can choose and build better societies for ourselves, in contrast with news we get daily from such fractured and dark political times.

Another interesting insight from this book: western society is actually quite unusual in how we organize ourselves around private property. Even things like human rights are often justified by us having ownership of our bodies, rather than, say, valuing human freedom.

I've only just started this book, but it really comes out swinging in its first chapter. The authors point out something that I hadn't realized before: if you ask "where did inequality come from?" you're assuming that we all used to live in perfect little egalitarian bands, which isn't necessarily true. I'm excited to read more.
