#GreatAlbums1950s - #TheDrifters – Clyde McPhatter & the Drifters (1956). The original Drifters were among the seminal R&B groups, bridging traditional pop (the Ink Spots in the 40s) and fifties soul (anticipating Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, etc.). “Money Honey” is a rollicking stop-time with claims to being an early (1953) rock & roll single. But much of this LP features McPhatter’s keening tenor on a set of immaculate gospel-tinged ballads – “Without Love,” “Seven Days” et. Al.

Released late that year, the disc became a major hit in early 1963, reaching number 5 on the #USPopSinglesChart and number 4 on the #USR_BSinglesChart. In the UK it was a top ten success for singer #KennyLynch, whose version was also released in 1962.

Voorheen had ze haar studies in 1982 al beëindigd om te verhuizen naar NYC, daar zal ze met #TheDrifters spelen, en nog meer artiesten uit het de jazz. Ze gaat ook naar jazzclubs en leert daar mentor #ArtBlakey kennen, wat voor haar een 2de vader zal worden.
Cindy krijgt meer en meer bekendheid en wordt door meerdere artiesten gevraagd, ze zal ook al eigen composities maken, waarvan de eerste in 1987 op het album Verses van #WallaceRoney verschijnt.
