Tilting over toward the documentary was the Korean film "The Flu" (2013), by director Kim Sung-su. The film explores (among other things) the effect of quarantine, necessitated by the deadly strain of #AvianFlu (H5N1) that kills its victims within 36 hours. I'm unhappy to report that, after suffering all December with various colds and the flu, painting a 1sq meter entry hall is quite the workout.

Still second coat to go.

It appears that "painting and decorating" is a 2-for-1 New Year resolution combo with "exercise".

After training a lot the last weeks, I was very close to reaching the magic purple "competition" VO2max range.

... then I got headache on Sunday evening, followed by a severe sore throat during the night. On Monday the fever set in and meanwhile it goes up and down to almost 40°C: The flu.

And my Garmin is kind enough to tell me that I am too stressed and should rest more ...

Well, okay. The plan of going to San Diego this weekend has been cancelled. The 9yo came home with a low-grade fever. The 12yo and I are getting stuffy. Instead of risking waking up on Saturday with a fever and infecting the whole family, my dad thought it best that I stay home.
