While reading the @ivory announcement on #TheFowlPlace, I realized why I don’t like twitter. There’s no curiosity. The first reason to be bothered or complain they jot it down and move on. There’s a type of twitter user that doesn’t ask “why” or “how” questions, and writes total nonsense to anyone who’s invested a little time to understand the post.

There are folks who literally asked for a refund. You know. The thing Apple issues. Not @tapbots?

@sienna I have often found myself doing this when reading quote tweets in #TheFowlPlace, since I almost always want the original content before the comment. To me, it makes more sense.

@micahdraws Glad I wasn't missing something. However, in that case, omitting the part about the $50K minimum feels to me like taking the potentially inflammatory part somewhat out of context. And if I wanted unnecessarily inflammatory discussions, I'd go back to #TheFowlPlace .

Again, I'm not a creator, so my perspective on this is very much from the outside. Which is why I started this discussion. But a lot of it feels to me like "this is a change and that's bad" panic.

Anyone else feel like this is the world of Twitter right now?

I was frankly bored with tech in the last few years, and one good thing about #thefowlplace dying is that it opens up the playing field for other services. So many tech people that I haven't seen in a long time are here on #mastodon, full of energy to write or #blog or adopt a new project. Substack, Medium, and other services have serious opportunities now. Excited to see what comes from all of this renewed energy.
