I loved #AsteroidCity, but I'm now watching #TheFrenchDispatch and it took just the first shot of the movie for me to cry at it. It's so beautiful

It was, I think, the first movie I watched at the theater again, and I cried at the theater too. It just reminded me why I love not only movies, but the movie theater

I finally saw 'The French Dispatch' and enjoyed it -- not as much as I enjoyed (actually, loved) 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'*, though, but it has its moments. The first and especially third segments were my favorites, and I've got to admit I was disappointed with the middle (youth movement).

I was actually really looking forward to that part as I'd like to have seen a Wes Anderson treatment of a student uprising, but it came out surprisingly pedestrian IMHO. The slogan was actually the best part.

The third segment gave me the touch of pathos I was hoping for, but it was gone too soon. At any rate, great cast and a fun film to lose myself in for a time, but overall rather uneven.

* I loved 'The Grand Budapest' so much I bought the movie (if you want unexpected pathos in a funny and chaotic story, you'll get it in spades with this film)

I finally submitted 'The House of Ash' to Draft2Digital for pre-order. I'll post the link once it goes live here, but the release date is August 16.

I also rented 'The French Dispatch' a few weeks ago, and my deadline to watch it is coming at me fast. I held off on watching it as I wanted to save it for this moment, when I'm officially done with my WiP and am about to move on to a new one.

I'll be kicking back tomorrow to recoup all those lost brain cells and will be watching the movie at last (uninterrupted, too).
