Been watching The Gold on iPlayer, which starts as a regular retro cops and robbers thing, then gradually reveals it's actually about the Met being riddled through with corruption with a sub-plot about how the Docklands property boom was built on money laundering. #TV #TheGold

Finished #TheGold last night. I very much enjoyed all the long monologues. It was like Shakespeare!

Hugh Bonneville had the best ones (imagine getting his Jazz speech just before you go out on a job), but other characters also got a few crackers, including the woman detective. Cannot imagine trying to monologue at anyone in my family (least of all my dad) without being casually interrupted after first sentence. #bbc

Watched, and surprised myself by enjoying, #TheGold #BBC. I'm not usually a heist girl but this one focused on the aftermath and was well done. Great cast, too.

If I had a niggle, there was too much reliance on the trope of 'now I will explain my mean streets / underprivileged background during dialogue with a suspect to show I'm well hard.' Once I noticed it (the first couple of times are fine) it began to grate.

Otherwise a fine drama, well shot and edited, that delivers - sorry - gold.
