The City of Glasgow Union Railway Line running from the Saint Enoch Station (closed 1966) across the City Union Bridge (the towers of which are just visible in the distance) to the Gorbals Station (closed 1928) and Cumberland Street Station (closed 1966). This line is still used to move rolling stock around Glasgow.

Rabbie and the gang being returned to the roof of the Citizen's Theatre on the southside of Glasgow.

These six statues (Robert Burns, William Shakeapeare, and the four Greek muses Melpomene, Thalia, Euterpe and Terpsichore), were created by the legendary Glasgow sculptor John Mossman when the theatre was built in1878. Almost a century later they were removed after the original building was condemned following a fire.

The former Gorbals Public Library on Norfolk Street in Glasgow. Designed by the Office for Public Works and opened in 1933. It had space for 30,000 books, including an annexe for foreign languages (with books of 40 different ones) and a lecture room which seats 240 people.

Firerighters' memorial on Cumberland Place in the Gorbals area of Glasgow marking the deaths of Station Officer William Clark and the four children he was trying to save from a fire in 1967.

This is part of Glasgow's Firefighters' Heritage Trail, created to honour firefighters who died protecting lives and property arcoss the city.

Just another rather glorious Glasgow Public Library building.

This is the former Hutchesontown District Library on McNeil Street. It was designed by JR Rhind and opened in 1906. It closed as a library in 1964 and is now a nursery. It was one of Glasgow's twelve Carnegie Libraries.

The rather grand entrance to Cumberland Street Railway Station in Glasgow. Designed by William Melville, this station was opened in 1900. Trains from here went from Port Eglinton to St Enoch Station. It closed in 1966 when passenger services on this line ceased.

I spotted this pair taking shelter from a day of heavy rain under a railway bridge. I loved the way they were facing each other when all the other pigeons were just scattered individually along the girders.
