Also, every time I call it , I have a little smile to myself and feel a little bit bad. Because in the days when that name was most fitting, I was still at school and the bloke over the road (“Uncle Harry”) was a proofreader for in Manchester.

He’s long gone now, but I think of him every time I have to spell ‘necessary’, because he taught me a so I didn’t misspell it, and I say it in my head every time I write that word to this day, more than 40 years later.
