I watched a few documentaries on the #Stuart reigns in England and how they shaped things. Fascinating stuff. Divine right of Kings, autocratic nonsense, Puritanical nonsense with Cromwell (Oliver), and such.

And it reaffirmed something that I had concluded after watching a lecture series on the Tudors and Stuarts from #TheGreatCourses

American history shouldn't start with the Mayflower. It should start with the Battle of Bosworth. Tudor/Stuart England set the stage for American Revolution.

Daoism itself means literally the teaching of the way (basically meaning the proper way to live and exist in harmony with nature). Confucianism on the other hand teaches also the way (basically meaning the proper way to live and exist in harmony with society).

I'm considering a few, and at 35 bucks seems like a decent deal, even if I don't use every single minute of the lectures.

I have to laugh

I have been diligently using Duolingo to refresh/relearn/learn German. I wasn't able to read anything real.

So I start using The Great Courses "Learn German" video in addition to Duolingo.

Yesterday, I could actually get the gist of a post in German! Granted, not complete understanding yet, as there are still words I don't know, but it's noticeable progress.

I can't stop reading #TheExpanse. I'm on my third run through and still finding passages I'd overlooked on the other two readings.

Also coupling it with learning more about science, thanks to #TheGreatCourses.

It is hard to tear my eyes away from the page, but I got work to do!
