Currently watching the 2019 Netflix documentary #TheGreatHack about #CambridgeAnalytica's involvement with the Trump campaign (and to some extent the Brexit one) and while I already knew a lot of this stuff, seeing it all laid out together makes me shudder once more.

Acabo de ver "El Gran Hackeo" (#TheGreatHack, Karim Amer & Ian Moubayed, 2019). Documental moi ben narrado que trata un tema controvertido, pero moi actual e absolutamente global: a economía dos datos e o que supón para as sociedades e a democracia. Faino coa excusa do escándalo de Cambridge Analytica & Facebook, mais cun fío argumental relativamente simple.

Comme d'autres l'ont déjà dit, le documentaire Netflix #TheGreatHack est un bon début.

Il est urgent que tout le monde comprenne comment ces données peuvent être utilisées : « prédire la personnalité, car le comportement découle de la personnalité. Et le comportement influence le vote » comme le dit Alexander Nix…

Cette question n'est pas technique, et elle concerne tout le monde.

Just watched #TheGreatHack on #Netflix. What I appreciated about this #documentary on #Facebook and the whole #CambridgeAnalytica scandal, is that it's one of the few #privacy #documentaries to get that protecting personal data isn't just about not seeing personalized ads for stuff you're more likely to want. It's about protecting ourselves from mass psychological manipulation and behavior modification techniques. These are techniques that actually work *best* when people believe they don't.

@strypey Yes, in the documentary #TheGreatHack #CambridgeAnalytica are shown persuading people not to vote in Trinidad and Tobago, thus leaving the way clear for their candidate. In general I support Chomsky's advice to vote but don't take it too seriously. Anarchists need to think carefully before convincing people not to vote.
