When the former party leader (you financially supported and voted for) blocks you on birdsite because... wait for it... you quoted a line from a science paper back to her!

This is the umpteenth time this happens to me - being blocked for simply arguing a counterpoint (in a nice, almost academic way) - then a famous person treats me, a follower, as disposable (no recognisable name, an unimportant "internet rando" I suppose)... blocking is nothing to them. It's bad enough that the engagement I get on birdsite is non-existent anyway... they only engage when they need to block.

Endlessly impressed by Lidia, her choice to leave the Greens to better represent her community is impressive (really says something about the Greens that she felt she needed to do that).

She’s taken what power the system gives her and used it to advocate rather than be seduced to buying into it.

I can only hope to one day have the passion and fortitude of Lidia Thorpe’s little finger.

I hope that Senate voting on the environment remains strong with Lidia Thorpe's move to the crossbench.

People are entitled to ask why Lidia Thorpe ran for The Greens just last year only to walk away now, even though she had license to express her views. The Greens' preselection procedures need an overhaul.

The honourable thing to do is to quit if you can't represent the people who voted you in (Incl. me). That's what Cheryl Kernot did.

There's nothing like an existential crisis to focus the mind. As agents of change, The Greens have lead public policy in a way that far exceeds its primary vote, and most Greens are happy when their ideas, once thought radical, become the baseline for further change. That's the underlying psychology of the Overton Window. I'd love to think the #LiberalParty was finished but I fear that won't be the case. I hope I'm wrong.

This seems a little like a false equivalence argument though ?

Sustainability = consumption x population

But we have the richest 1% consuming and emitting as much as the poorest 50%.

Surely if we were serious about any of this we'd first insist the richest 1% lived like the average European and we'd cut global emsisons by 30%, don't his as a sign ofngoid faith were serious aboit this ? before we insist the poor Nigerian farmer wears a condom.

So top voting for politcans who support the orthodoxy would be a nice stat ?

Here in Australia only #TheGreens want to reduce the consumption of billionaires and they get a tiny sliver of the vote, Australian's poorest overwhelingly and incomprehensibly support the worlds billionaires.

Voting for The Greens isn't about getting the Greens into power, it's about shifting the Overton Window so all political parties take ClimateChange seriously. Currently neither of the major parties do.

Noting changes until voters do... or civilisation collapses. My bet is in the latter.

@halcionandon Hi Anna, I am actually in the middle of an #NDIS review after being assisted by Senator Jordan Steele-John from #TheGreens. I am based in Qld. while the Senator is in WA. Nevertheless, I actually received a phone call from a senior NDIA consultant the same day they were contacted by the Senator's office. The next day, a senior officer from APM, the Local Area Co-ordinator, also called me to state they would be handling my case personally. I provided some additional medical reports and advised that more are coming. They will now review those reports and get back to me.
There is no doubt that the Senator's assistance has already made a big difference in how my concerns are being addressed by the NDIA. Time will tell whether it has made a difference ultimately but I have really appreciated their help.
