The IPCRESS File by Len Deighton. James Bond-alike with less misogyny and gadgets, more MOD machinations and clever plotting.

I would have liked to have given this a deeper reading, but took it as light entertainment and enjoyed it enormously as such.

@Pulpcurry I love buying old paperbacks from thrift stores/charity shops. I read #theIpcressFile earlier this year. I thought it was reasonably entertaining but a bit directionless for me :) Never read any #EricAmbler but will do if he’s recommended

Has anyone watched The Ipcress File series on ITV?

So far there's an egregious overuse of the canted camera angle. Very 60s but also very annoying. It's like all the madcap scenes in The Avengers or 60s Batman in the lair of the Joker.

Alternatively it's like being on a lurching ship. I'm only 20 mins in and I feel sea sick.

Does it improve?

Yeah, I know the Michael Caine films did it but they did it with purpose and narrative effect and they didn't give me a headache
