All religions are based on fantasy stories and man-made doctrines. Pentecostal churches however take it to the next level by having an efficient business model and inspiring music.

I have always appreciated Marc Fennell's accessible approach to storytelling, and the SBS documentary The Kingdom is no exception. It would have been a more compelling watch if it had delved deeper into the corruption, scandals, and brainwashing, and exposed its parallels with all other major religious organisations. As Marc grew up being part of one of Australia's most influential churches, he opted for a more personal and guarded take. Nevertheless, the documentary gave excellent insights and history, especially in the Australian context. Highly recommended. #TheKingdom
