It was originally released in 1975 by #HaroldMelvin_TheBlueNotes featuring #TeddyPendergrass, an act signed to Gamble & Huff's #PhiladelphiaInternational label. "Don't Leave Me This Way" was subsequently covered by American singer #ThelmaHouston in 1976 and British duo #theCommunards in 1986, with both versions achieving commercial success.

For me 35 years ago meant going out with mates, having a few drinks and a dance at a club.
