Another in my challenge to read books made into films. by . Based on the real life story of Jack the Ripper, but this is not a gory slasher. More a character study of the landlord and lady who start to suspect their lodger is responsible for the terrible murders sweeping London. Somewhat dated (it was written in 1917), this slow paced thriller is still actually quite engaging and held my interest till the very end.

@WalterShaub I haven’t seen it. I’ve loved other Charlie Kaufman films though. I just read Fritz Lang’s Metropolis & Alfred Hitchcock’s The Lodger will enter the public domain in January. Along w/ a lot of other brilliant films/books/plays. We’re entering the talkie & Silver Screen era of films in the public domain. Coming soon to community theatres & virtual online archives. 🥳🥂
