OK, this is funny, but i'm in a meta mood today. I was never a Taco Bell kid. We had the Taco Tico at the Pitt Theater at Elysian Fields and Toussaint all those years, and another right across the street from The Bell in #themetrys. Now, the other side of Elysian Fields and Toussaint is a Bell. The Taco Tico on Vets is Paco's Tacos, and you can still get Taco Tico in Kenna (bra).
"You, Too, Will Find It Pays to Save by the Bell!" ad for the Bell Super Markets in the Times-Picayune, 28-July-1949. There were 7 stores in the Bell Co-op at this time, as Dorignac's and Economical had not expanded to #themetrys yet.
#tacotuesday - long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, this was the Taco Tico in #themetrys. Paco's Tacos is a big step up. 🌮
Men may be on the moon, but the family still needed groceries! Ad for the 10 Bell Supermarkets, 21-July-1969. @ZuppardosFamily is still Economical, with two stores, Gentilly and Elysian Fields and Vets at Transcontinental in #themetrys. The Bell co-op continued into the 1990s.
institutional cafeteria burgers are on the spectrum somewhere between BK and Ben's Burgers in #themetrys
"SALE...enhance '21' one week only...save up to 20% on lily of france's famous girdle." Ad for Godchaux's on Canal Street, in the Times-Picayune, 17-June-1956. It would still be six years before Godchaux's expanded out to #themetrys.
"All The Groceries You Need In One Great Store" - ad for @BreauxMart in the Times-Picayune, 31-May-1979. All the stores listed except Severn in #themetrys are ATNM, but the chain's opened new locations since.
"16 oz. Prime Beef Heart Of The Loin Steak" for $14.95 at The Beef Baron, 541 Oaklawn Dr. in #themetrys. This is the building right behind the Burger King in the 900 block of Veterans. It's been so many things over the years. It's now an urgent care facility.
4+1 special from @mypacostacos in #themetrys

I'm convinced that NextDoor is a tool used by the Great Old Ones to drive humanity insane. Future anthropologists will use it to document mankind's descent into madness.

a woman on NextDoor complained about being overcharged 2x.20 on cold drinks at a Popeyes in #themetrys two days ago. They're still talking about this forty fucking cents today.

"The Magnificent Parker 75 in Sterling Silver - Custom-crafted to write your own way..." ad for @adlersnola, in the Times-Picayune, 15-December-1966. The store was still just at 722 Canal Street. Adler's later opened their store in #themetrys, in Lakeside Shopping Center.
The doll and the Munchkins are both cursed. But you get free sprinkles!

"A Great Christmas Gift Idea: Giant Munchkin Doll, 99 cents" - ad for Dunkin Donuts, 3-December-1974. Four locations at this time, Da Parish, #themetrys, Kenna (bra) and Jefferson. I don't remember this toy at all, do you?
