And thus concludes #TheMushroomening !
It went pretty well other than being lied to by YouTube about the collar-to-neckline ratio (and I literally had one yard of fabric to work with, so there where no do-overs when it came to cutting fabric) and forgetting about how Stoopid Lefty is a cup size bigger than Righty.
I about walked out the door with that headlamp on π
Finished hemming one sleeve cuff! Only one left and some applique! Which, if I'm being honest, might turn into fabric paint instead of applique because I am tired, y'all. π
Not enough brain left today for sewing, but I went ahead and cut out my applique spots from the cheesecloth. I'll attach them by sewing a running stitch spiral inside and I'm going to let the edges fray.
I now have two sleeves with their cuffs pinned! The sleeves are wide, without tapering or a gathered cuff, so hemming won't be quick, but at least I'm ready for the next stage.
This time I was smart and I self-medicated before sitting down to sew with four shots of espresso in a large sugary coffee drink! πͺπ»
Please admire this runched / ruffled neckline which is my 100% on purpose design feature and not a mistake I made by not hiding the edge inside the collar.* π
*Clearly a lie.
Ok, it was pinned & tonight I basted it in, then I flipped it & repinned it so you can see the (laughingly miniscule, I now realize) collar that I'm adding. Now my brain is tired & my stomach stopped hurting, so it's time for bed.
Keeping it stretched to the right width has been the most difficult part, but a piece of cardboard has been working reasonably well.
I am learning many things, mostly by trial & error, but that seems to be how I stay engaged enough to learn.
I swear to the Gods that if I don't barf while trying to sew this stupid fkn neckline, it will be a miracle.

Saw a lovely crescent moonrise on the way home this morning, got some knitting in over coffee, and hope to sew in this neckline this afternoon. Shaping up to be a good day!

Good morning. Improvisational jazz time!
Aaaaand I have now decided my approach to the collar (neckband?) is Too Thickβ’οΈ. After checking out YT for a bit, I realized I was on the right track, but there's a better way.
But THAT, my dear 'shroom peeps, is for tomorrow.

!
I just sat down to finish pinning the collar on this neckline and I was absolutely convinced that I had done the entire thing inside out and was about to start pulling the pins out when I got mad and started to write a post about how I had done it wrong. But in the middle of writing THAT post, I realized that I had actually done it right. So Mastodon just literally saved me hours of work. π And then I wrote THIS post: This damn thing is killing me.
Goblin brain: Just make the thing! Having fun costume is more important than having nice costume!
Actual brain: But I want it to be nice, too!
Goblin brain: :oh_no: :oh_no_bubble:
Neckline time!
(I don't know if you can hear the growing edge of desperation in these posts, but I'm trying so hard to keep my excitement about this project up so that I will actually finish it! #adhd)
*tries to not have a panic attack in Mushroom*
JFC cutting fabric freaks me out. I am so very ill-suited to this craft!!!
#TheMushroomening continues!
I finished my hemming and I'm getting ready to cut out a neckline... which means I first have to figure out a neckline.
100% goblin freestyle, baybee!
