#TheNewAvengers 10 (1976) - 6/10

1️⃣ Despite good ideas this is only an average episode. The three main characters are sidelined for far too long. We are halfway through the episode before they become involved in the action. And when they do participate, they completely fail to save their three wards.

2️⃣ A mind-transference machine is a good idea for an episode. But the story built around it is plodding. None of the action bits are exciting, not even the one at the very end.

#TheNewAvengers 09 (1976) - 10/10
❝He needs a phrenologist like he needs a hole in the head.❞

1️⃣ An absolutely-superb adventure for #PatrickMacnee and his new partners.

2️⃣ Spy #GeorgeACooper (#GrangeHill) gets out of prison with a blackmail scheme in mind. But enemy agents accidentally kill him before they or anyone else knows what he has. Or where it is.

3️⃣ There follows a never-ending chase around the English countryside, with nothing but a salacious Western novel as a guide.

#TheNewAvengers 08 (1976) - 8/10
Contrived, but fun.

1️⃣ The 3 leads get a lot of screentime in this one. But the characters don’t work together as a team, which feels out of character.

2️⃣ The idea of powerful people being replaced by lookalikes is perfect for the show. And they have a lot of fun with it, particularly when Purdey and Gambit are together.

3️⃣ #JoannaLumley gets to play 2 very different characters here. And she’s fantastic at both. Particularly as the gum-chewing Lolita.
