This is a unique painting by Simon Bisley for his project with Gaiman dating from 1989. It's a shame that the comic book entitled "The Night Circus", was never published.
The Biz would have made it unique for sure !

Between work and play I find myself disinclined to read anything more taxing than a magazine lately. But over the Christmas break I finished a book which had been sitting on my bedside table for months.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is a superbly crafted book about a deadly competition between two powerful wizards through their hand-picked apprentices. The competition takes place in and around a magical circus at the turn of the 20th century.

Though I struggled to get going with it, I spent the whole of a very lazy New Year's Day finishing it and loved it in the end. Warm, clever and visually striking, this is one I'd like to read again.

Erin Morgenstern’s writing opens up a feast for the reader’s imagination. I won’t give too many examples in the hopes that any readers will go feast for themselves, but not a chapter goes by without some description that bears rereading.

“‘This is the Ice Garden,’ Poppet says… It turns into an open space with a fountain in the middle, bubbling white foam over clear carved ice.”

Received my copy of the Books Illustrated/Boddington & Royall version of #TheNightCircus by #ErinMorgenstern and it is gorgeous...

This is one of my favourite books and this edition does it justice. It will sit well with the other versions of this.

@TGleichner now that I’ve finished it…I can definitely say I didn’t like it. At all.

Rewrite it from Isobel’s perspective and cut out all the second-person chapters and I might have felt differently.

I’m actually listening to The Night Circus this time. But I have my book handy too just in case. In case of what? Who knows, but one should always be prepared when the circus arrives without warning.

The #phantomwisetarot definitely was the catalyst to pick up my very favorite book again. I may even do some readings for our main characters for reasons. Stay tuned.

Until then, the sun is setting here…which means the circus is about to open.

Just got The Phantomwise Tarot by @erinmorgenstern@twitter.com This is a beautiful deck. Whimsical, elegant, with the aesthetics of #TheNightCircus and a style I think of as “Edward Gorey but cheerful.” There’s a linen feel that makes the cards a joy to handle. Beautifully made.
