Reviews for Wes Craven’s The People Under The Stairs called it "a satire of late capitalism,” and described the Mommy and Daddy characters a "cartoonish parody of conservatism" and a "camouflaged Ronald and Nancy Reagan.”
Craven refers to the Robesons' house as representing "the whole society of the United States".
What was cartoonish parody then is reality now!
