The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta

I never would have expected "De do do do, de da da da" to be the song that broke the Police, but there you go - three albums in and they had a monster hit, at least in the US. (No idea why the previous LPs didn't break out.)

Anyway, a refinement of the early, classic Police trio sound, and probably the best of the first three.

This is another old Nautilus pressing, really dynamic and quiet.

The Police - Ghost in the Machine

This record and XTC's English Settlement spent a lot of time on my turntable in 1981/1982.

It was a pretty big pivot from the first three albums, leaving the "pure" guitar trio behind, and using quite a lot of synthesizer. Plus, Hugh Padgham gave these more ambitious tracks a big, atmospheric sound...something that would continue into their next (and last) record.

#Sting, upon leaving #ThePolice, never released a consistently #good album; each solo effort is sprinkled with some brilliant songwriting and some just *absolutely* pretentious+awful stuff; however, this comes closest in terms of a "good" album start-to-finish.

And if I had a list of Top 100 albums, this would be on it., somewhere between 80 - 90 *probably*

Ten Summoner's Tales (a play on Sting's name: Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner)

The Police are my absolute favorite rock band of all time. When I first began playing drums I even played the Stewart Copeland’s Tama kit. He’s maybe the most underrated drummer in the genre.

Fun fact: they only released 5 studio records.

Fun assumption: my friend @markchappelle will not hate me for posting this. In fact, he may agree with me.
