I really enjoyed playing #TheQuietYear
It's hard to describe it, since it's so unique - it's a map drawing, collaborative world building and roleplaying game. You work together creating and evolving a society over the course of an in-game year.

Every week(turn) you get a prompt to help you come up with situations that might occur, until the winter when your society is wiped out. The stakes seem low, but you end up attached to the various characters you craft with your friends.

@thomas I love TTRPGs with world-building in them. Some do this on the fly and others do it procedurally in setting up the game.

Games like #Fate, #CortexPrime, and others let you spend resources and make things real, including setting elements.

Games like #TheQuietYear, #Dialect, and #ForTheQueen have you build/change as you go in the rules. #Epyllion asks you to detail the world using a map and I love it.

Games like #Microscope and #I'mSorryDidYouSayStreetMagic are about world-building.

@runeslinger my RPG addiction started as a child with the Lone Wolf game-books 🐺

Then I was gifted the original HeroQuest boardgame and played it to death with a couple of friends, expanding it with home-made maps, quests and other materials 🎲

Then a friend introduced me to Mentzer red box ❤️ 🐉

Today I think that a good intro to RPGs would be any "modern design" with catchy illustrations and a setting/concept that interests the perspective new player.

@kevincbr Oh boy, #TheQuietYear is a fabulous experience. I'm planning on playing it again soon as a precursor to running a MÖRK BORG campaign. It should be interesting when the world trying to kill the players is one they built themselves...
