Hey, @psychotherapists, this blog post above points to a very interesting article about a more phenomenological conception of schizophrenia. It is not particularly radical or a huge change in conception from the DSM model, but it frames sx more in line with the inner lived experience reported by people experiencing them. If you work with clients on the sz spectrum, I recommend it. Thought provoking.

What a letdown! I was promised that ChatGPT was "a bullshit generator" but I can't get it to output a 3rd-party-payer-adequate tx plan at all. Hrmph!

....! I just randomly woke up thinking about him.

Well, not so randomly: I have been watching a video about Canada's COVID response that's so upsetting I am having trouble getting through it, that is about how utterly unwilling the Infectious Disease doctors in Canada were to accept the work of scientists from other fields (aerosol physicists, in particular) all the way back to SARS1...

And I keep thinking about Charles Silverstein walking into that meeting of the American Psychiatric Association Nomenclature Committee clutching a literature review of all the scientific study of homosexuality in other branches of science that the psychiatrists didn't know about, and how it changed the world, because the psychiatrists were willing to be changed. Because they were willing to have their minds changed by science.

There's a Covid-Conscious Therapist Directory!

It shouldn't be hard to find a therapist who knows their clients' COVID fears are a rational and appropriate response to what's happening. But it somehow is, even after three years. So I made a directory to make it easy. Here's the link to join.

Hey ! Lots of other professions and communities on the fediverse have cool nicknames that play on "Mastodon". The historians use the hashtag "histodons", the Jewish community uses "mazeldon", and there's the brilliantly named instance for programmers named "hackyderm".

In that spirit, I would like to propose, to the eternal frustration of any paleontologists trying to use this platform, we adopt .

An article published in the journal "PLOS ONE" reports the identification of a new species of cynodont that lived in today's Argentina about 230 million years ago, in the Triassic period.
