I had a nice little adventure in the pre-storm mist yesterday, visiting the tiny marsh near the mouth where the local river meets a lake. I often find this black phoebe there (a favorite bird of mine), and spotting em, my face speckling with mist and the sky darkening for rain, brought to mind the Sara Teasdale poem I often think of in such weather.

I loved watching this great blue heron and some feeding circles of (mostly female) Northern shovelers in yesterday's rain.
I often think of Sara Teasdale's "There Will Come Soft Rains" (the poem Ray Bradbury named his short story after). Whatever we humans might do, may the birds outlast us or find a way to make us theirs.
Here's a link to a short, silent video I managed to capture as well: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IVMQpAmdG0xG5JSQVK8C1KP8huJnwiDp/view?usp=drivesdk
