In 1948 the USSR Academy of Sciences sent several expeditions to the Nemegt Formation in the Gobi Desert. They found turtles and numerous dinosaur fossils, including three large claws.

In 1954, Evgany Maleev, scientifically described the species Therizinosaurus.

Weirdly, they were not thought to belong to a dinosaur at that time, but a turtle like reptile.

In 1970, Anatoly K. Rozhdestvensky identified it as a theropod not a turtle.

In progress Therizinosaurus for you all this fossil Friday. Had to take a break from this fella as my poor pc was starting to rebel. Need to reconsider some of the feather distribution and display features come the new year.

If anyone has any tips for texturing hair in blender I'm all ears.
