Archaeopteryx shared many anatomic characters with , a group of (carnivorous dinosaurs). In fact, only the identification of feathers on the first known specimens indicated that the animal was a . Unlike living birds, however, had well-developed teeth and a long well-developed tail similar to those of smaller dinosaurs, except that it had a row of feathers on each side. The three fingers bore claws and moved independently.

Putting together a graphic showing pelvis size in giant saurischians, having realised that the biggest sauropod pelves aren't _that_ much bigger than those of big theropods. There're obvious functional reasons behind this (bipedality vs. quadrupedality, cursoriality vs. graviportality etc.) but it's still interesting to see the pelves of gigantic sauropods being matched by much smaller theropods. Some interesting limb power/weight ratios being hinted at here.

But we do have to ask ourselves, exactly how brainy were the saurornithoidids, and other nonavian maniraptors? True that an avian grade telencephalon, appears only in these derived coelurosaurs.

But they were at the low end of modern birds: like palaeognaths and galliforms, rather than anseriforms or neoavians. Not likely to be as smart as the accipitrids.

So which theropods had teeth most similar to ziphodont crocodyliforms? And what disparity exists, among such crocodyliform teeth?

@mike Ha. No worries about that. I'll just have to try to hide my slight disappointment when I click on a CW post only to be met with a long rant about crypto. And where's all the CWs for eating anyway? It's all over the place.
