What about
Silesaurus, Nyasasaurus,
Pisanosaurus, and
all the others who
into and out of
Dinosauria move?
Does their
popularity bloom?
when they change,
almost werewolf-like
with the phase
of the moon?
Does any one even know?
#Poetry #arthropods #dinosaurs #theropodthursday
and maybe
some say
it'd be better that way
if we'd just
give up the strain
of correcting
actually, factually
that's not a dinosaur
let them be elevated
by mistake
and let them take
a little fame
let the Ichthyosaur,
the Plesiosaur,
the Pterosaur,
the Poposaur,
and the Edaphosaur
become a little more
popular?
What about
the Herrerasaur?
Is a Herrerasaur
more popular when
it's considered a dinosaur?
#Poetry #arthropods #dinosaurs #theropodthursday
and even when
their limelight
should strike
those outside
the dinosaur clade
it does so by mistake
"Look, a T-rex",
some people say
of Postosuchus
and Poposaurus
and
"Hey, it's Spinosaurus!"
of Permian Dimetrodon
nearer to you and me
than any dinosaur
Even if you're a mammoth
you've probably been
considered a dinosaur
by someone we all wish
had known a little more
and the pterosaurs
most of all
most frequently
lumped in with dinosaurs

Arthropleura,
the Carboniferous
diplopode arthropod
never met a theropod
in its life
living some sixty
million years
and more
before
theropods evolved
Yet it,
like so many
among the extinct,
languishes
forgotten
in the shadow
of the dinosaurs
they loom
they obscure
the popular vision
of so many other
extinct flora
and fauna
