In 1969 na een periode van stilte, maakt hij deel uit van de band rond de musical #Hair.
En komt zijn solo album Roman Wall Blues uit, en sluit zich in 1972 aan bij de band #TearGas die omgedoopt wordt tot #TheSensationalAlexHarveyBand, waar Alex #AlterEgo #Vambo gebruikt.
In 1978 stopt de band en neemt zelfs een album op zonder Alex.
Alex sticht een nieuwe band, #TheNewBand, waarbij hij op tournee in België instort en in Zeebrugge een hartaanval krijgt en sterft op weg naar het ziekenhuis.
