I might need to update my deconstruction of the joke which led to The Slap™

I think the lesson of all of these controversies, scandals, etc is to not put celebrities or other people on pedestals. Instead, we should recognize that everyone is a flawed human and that we should all focus on becoming the best versions of ourselves that we can be. We're all experiencing life together and growing and learning as we age. We should give people the space to make mistakes and ultimately correct them.

The #shunning of #WillSmith is weird. You'd think traditionalists would be all for a manly man who defended his woman; have to wonder would the reaction have been different if he had a white face #TheSlap https://www.theguardian.com/film/2022/nov/29/will-smith-emancipation-movie-understands-if-people-avoid-his-films-after-chris-rock-oscars-slap
I felt a general malaise all day. Covid doesn't help.
#theslap made me sad, although it's interesting to see how society reacts to violence in a very specific example, mild when compared to the ongoing wars but still visceral and specific.
