I've had a really busy January and February but I'm managing to work on my projects here and there.

Update on my #blackwork #embroidery #TheSteadyThreadSAL:

I am just past the halfway mark in terms of making the template and it is going quickly. I plan on selecting thread for the accent flowers tonight so I can start with weekly releases.

I don't sew in the ends of the hexagon outlines until I'm done with the insides, so... lots of loose threads alert!

Sixty percent finished with my #100Circles sampler! Crummy photo — the canvas is white, not pink. Now I continue through the rainbow with another 40 circles in blues and greens. Also worked the fourth hex of the #TheSteadyThreadSAL 2023 #blackwork #embroidery

I decided to swatch the floss I have selected for the template, to have a feel for which combinations give me the most pleasure for my #TheSteadyThreadSAL 2023 #blackwork #embroidery project.

I am missing 905 and 470 and I plan on obtaining them before making a final decision.

(This grey cloth is hard to photograph. I tried tweaking the photo settings to be as accurate as possible.)

Progress on my #blackwork #embroidery #TheSteadyThreadSAL 2023 project!

My fabric is here! 🎉🎊

I ordered a bunch of "grey" fabric, but only one matched what I envisioned. It is closest in colour to DMC 3799, but not exactly. Maybe halfway to 535?

It's 36ct Edinburgh linen in Magical Grey. 😍

Today, I plan on picking up several shades of green floss to match and probably a few tan/beige for the hexagons.

Template stitching shall begin this weekend! *determined*

I’ve figured out a good mastodon/#pixelfed workflow that allows for minimal redundant typing:

1) post pic here, with good #AltText. Copy the alt text.
2) post pic to pixelfed, pasting in the alt text in the “advanced” section.

This works well for me because it’s easy to see and copy the alt text in my mastodon client (@tootapp !) but it’s hidden from me in the pixelfed interface.

@Siniful thank you! I’ve been using #2023botanicalsal but I just saw #thesteadythreadsal tonight so I’ll try to remember to include both for future progress posts. There’s a few of us on here I think — saw the start of one with the hexagon floral layout earlier. I’m excited to see yours too! It’s my first time working w dark aida and I didn’t realize I’d need to hold it up to see the holes better (or wear light clothing?). Ha ha

@Kayray I’m excited to see the hex version come together! This is my first year doing #thesteadythreadsal and I’m really looking forward to it!

I have good and bad news.

The good news is that the "parchment" for my #UrbanStitches Until Death Do Us Part SAL looks perfect and I will start on it (and try to catch up) over the next week or two.

The bad news: my #TheSteadyThreadSAL fabric feels wrong. I was hoping for a grey, maybe blue-ish grey and, instead, it looks green to me. M says it is a blue green grey, but all I see when I look at it is how GREEN it is. I am ordering a bunch of grey fabrics to replace it.

I have checked the tracking and the fabric for my #blaalckwork #embroidery botanical #TheSteadyThreadSAL 2023 is arriving today. That also features hexagons!

Also arriving is fabric for the current #UrbanStitches' Until Death Do Us Part SAL, which I am woefully behind on, as I haven't started on it. 😅 Fingers crossed that I like what I ordered and can begin: it is hand-dyed so I may not like it.
