When I saw this branded content on #TheStraitsTimes' website yesterday (it was also promoted on their Facebook page), it frustrated me as both a #journalist and an #activist who has been working for the #abolition of the #DeathPenalty and for serious reform in #Singapore's #DrugPolicy. There is so little space for open, evidence-based discussion about drugs, drug use, and drug policy here. We need public education, not copaganda.

There is very little reason or evidence for us to think that there will be sufficient editorial independence at a paper like #TheStraitsTimes for them to make a clear demarcation between the Ministry of Home Affairs as a commercial client, and as part of the government their #journalists are supposed to report on bravely, without fear or favour.
#OpenAI’s #ChatGPT failed #math and #science tests that sixth-graders in #Singapore take.
It made errors in simple addition and could not comprehend any diagrams, per #TheStraitsTimes.

This is blowing up in #Singapore. The country’s media powerhouse, #SPH, found to have inflated circulation numbers of its publications by 10-12%. Its flagship media is #TheStraitsTimes.
Inflated print figures aren’t unusual but because this is Singapore where everything is meant to be strictly proper and by the book, it’s embarrassing https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/sgx-review-sph-media-circulation-watchdog-urges-no-let-2086546
