I mentioned Ronnie Corbett yesterday, and it occurred to me that some here on Mastodon who are interested in linguistics may not be aware of the famous 'Four Candles' comedy sketch from 'The Two Ronnies'.
A link to a video of the sketch is attached. The sketch, which first aired in 1976, is especially amusing to those working in dialectology and sociolinguistics.

[1973] The Two Ronnies Old Fashioned Christmas Mystery - It's Christmas Eve in 1874 and Sir Giles and Lady Hampton are entertaining their guests with stories, games, songs, drama recitations and dancing. Suddenly, they find that somebody has stolen the turkey they were going to serve for dinner. To solve the crime they call in the top detectives Piggy Malone and Charley Farley, who immediately speed to the scene of the crime.
