Try #IainMBanks #books for #scifi. The series on #TheCulture are very good - first one #ConsiderPhlebas. Banks also writes as #IainBanks which are also very good - #TheWaspFactory was his first.

When I was a student, everyone was reading #TheWaspFactory by #IainBanks - in what I now see to be an early instance of my bloody minded avoidance of ‘popular’ things (see also: #SlumdogMillionaire), I decided I wouldn’t. I then went on to read loads of Banks’ books but not, until now, his first. In not unconnected news, my Christmas shopping trip was less productive than I’d hoped - at least, so far as buying other people presents is concerned…
