I’ve been rereading “The Witching Hour” by Anne Rice and it’s like greeting a once-lost and always familiar friend.

Complex, vivid and deep, I’m only in the first six or seven chapters and the character-building is impressive. The people are not one-dimensional; by all means, each one has fears, strengths, and weaknesses.

These are hallmarks of good writing.
