#TuneTuesday this week is about a favourite song from the last album you bought. I've linked to this song before (although possibly on #JukeboxFridayNight), but it's beautiful and powerful and definitely warrants another share.
The Young'uns - Tiny Notes
(Please be aware, this song refers to suicide, but not at all graphically, and is about survival and hope.)

Some more #JukeboxFridayNight, I think.
Was saying earlier that I might post songs with lyrics that tugged at my emotions. Here's one that only came out recently, and dependably dampens my eyes: Tiny Notes by The Young'uns.
As I was saying yesterday, nobody writes songs about good people quite like the Young'uns.

(Please note: this song does refer indirectly to suicide, but in the context of survival, recovery, hope, love.)

#today (or earlier, I've been busy), I've had a good listen to the new Young'uns album, Tiny Notes. And it really got me quite emotional; there's nobody else who does songs about good people quite like the Young'uns.
I hope some of you might give it a moment of your time. It deserves that.

#today I have a pot of Chinese sencha with berries and flowers made by Pumphreys of Blaydon-on-Tyne.
And, very suitable for May Day, listening to The Ballad of Johnny Longstaff by The Young'uns.

The album (my favourite of 2018) tells the true story of Johnny Longstaff, a man from Stockton-on-Tees who marched with Jarrow Crusaders, struck for workers' rights, and fought to defeat fascism - first at Cable Street against Mosley's thugs, then in Spain with the International Brigades.
And there's a song set to the tune of the Internationale, perfect for today.

As #JukeboxFridayNight is #ThatFirstTime, I too should probably include the first gig I went to. I'm not going to. Sorry.
I was in my late teens, and it was the Manic Street Preachers during their late 90s leisurewear phase. That's no longer my cup of tea.
My life has had three parts: when I was young, then the times when all the bad things happened, and now the time when I've been trying to live my own life.
And the first gig I saw during this part of life was The Unthanks, supported by The Young'uns. As I've picked Unthanks songs for the last few weeks, I'll have a Young'uns song. I'm pretty sure they played this at the gig in question: Ghafoor's Bus.
(Also, a lovely song, about a very good man from Stockton called Ghafoor Hussain who has devoted himself to feeding refugees.)
