Ok so here it is - A blogpost that describes how I combined #Things3 and #obsidian with the Kanban plugin.

This allows me to go pull me daily todos into a kanban board in obsidian.

I ran across a question posted in the r/thingsapp subreddit. The crux of the question was how to handle the case where you set your reminder for a task in Things 3 in one timezone, but need it to be TZ aware in your new Timezone.

Et Voila! I’ve created a shortcut that you can use that will make your reminders TZ aware.

I updated my Create Daily Journal Entry shortcut to make use of the new Things 3.17 shortcut actions. Now it includes the todos you completed today when it creates your journal entry in Day One. Prior to this I had to “share” the completed todos with the shortcut. This is far simpler to use.

#mymind my favorite content collection app. I just dropped everything from the web into: toots, tweets, links, articles, movies, books, games and so on. The AI sort it all for me and it’s easy to search and navigate. I definitely suggest you try it.

#ObsidianMD looks so difficult to me but maybe I should give it a shot someday.

The beginning of the year is the perfect time to take two steps back and assess your personal task management approach. I’ve taken the opportunity to do a ‘spring cleaning’ in moving from OmniFocus to Things and already it’s like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

I don’t doubt I’ll move back to OmniFocus in time, but for now I can already tell this is working better.

One of the things I do to make myself more #productive is to break up my #projects into as many small tasks as possible.

I personally do this is using a task manager. I use #Things3 for my personal life and projects, and #ticktick for work (because Things 3 isn’t available on my work windows pc).

If you don’t use a personal task manager I really can’t recommend it enough.

🌏 🌊 I am an Earth/climate scientist at the University of Arizona in #Tucson (southwestern US) focusing on the areas of #climate change, #paleoclimates, and #paleoceanography, with an emphasis on #ENSO, #monsoons, & #variability.

⚗️🐚 Our group uses #inorganic #geochemistry incl. measurements of #stableisotopes & #tracemetals in #carbonate rocks & #fossils (e.g., #foraminifera, #mollusks, & #speleothems) alongside climate #observations as well as #simulations to advance understanding of how the Earth's #climate & #oceans have changed in the past and can change in the future.

Some of my hobbies include:

🎵 #music: I am a fan of #metal and heavy music of all sorts, but tend to migrate towards #black, #death, #doom, #drone, #sludge, & #thrash. I also have a soft spot for #carnatic/#hindustani #ragas, #darkambient, oldschool-ish #hiphop, #triphop, and various forms of #electronicmusic.

🦜 #birds & #birding #photography bring me joy. Right now, I feel v lucky to be briefly back in my hometown of #Bengaluru, southern India, after three long years being able to see #oldworld birds I grew up with.

👨🏾‍💻 #GTD, #mindfulness, #organization, and (vs?) #producivity are things that I enjoy thinking about. Of late, I've been using #Things3, #Streaks, #Hobonichi w a #Lamy Safari, #Obsidian, #Overleaf, & #Bookends to get things done.
