Today on #ThisOldF***ingHouse-
We managed to replace the PEX pipe that was leaking with a new length of pipe ($3), some clamps ($5), and a crimper ($85) 🤬. Still cheaper than the plumber who charges $200 to show up, $100 an hour, goes back to the plumbing place to get something to fix the problem which inevitably takes an hour, then fixes the problem for another hour. Must be nice.
And now the faucet is leaking and we have to replace a nut. 🤬🤬🤬
Updates on #ThisOldF***ingHouse
The FlexSeal on the pinhole leak in the kitchen pipe didn’t pop this time, but it is still dripping, so we’re gonna have to replace the PEX pipe. Looks like another trip to the hardware store.
Meantime let’s review 2023 so far.
In January, we had raccoons visit for a week, the a bomb cyclone that knocked the power out for a week, over 2 weeks without work because of storm cancellations, the 2 visits by skunks and now the kitchen pipe problem. 🙄
#ThisOldF***ingHouse update. We tried flexseal on the pinhole leak in the pipe in the kitchen, and it held, but ballooned out and popped. So now we’re trying flexseal spray to plug the little mutherf***er and then when it’s dried a bit, we’re going to tape it back up again and let it dry overnight. If worst comes to worst, we’ll have to replace that section of the pipe. Fortunately, it’s PEX (flexible plumbing pipe) so we’ll just have to buy a length, some crimps and a crimper. And swear a lot.
Nothing like coming home after a long week of working too hard and finding a pinhole leak in a pipe in the kitchen. 🤬
Fortunately it's in an accessible place where we'd already taken the sheetrock down to work on something. Gonna get some Flexseal at the hardware store tomorrow and fix it.
