After a fire in 2006, Chicago's National Museum of Gospel Music is being rebuilt. The former Pilgrim Baptist Church, where the great Thomas A. Dorsey, the father of gospel music was choir director, was the site of countless legendary performances by the Staple Singers, Mahalia Jackson, Willie Mae Ford Smith, (my faves) the O'Neal Twins, Pastor T.L. Barrett, and many more!
