So much of power comes from a kind frustration with the western literary canon as it assumes it is worthy of being championed. That the competition for wealth and fame is right he almost exclusively writes about the extras of historic moments. The inconsequential victims of history who like a river carry the warships forward that inevitably grind them towards oblivion. By western tradition I mean any one who acknowledges by vying for ether academic or financial gain in that system

seemingly learned to shape information from T.S. Eliot and Oakley hall. Specifically the wasteland and warlock. But on a line by line level it reads more like Groucho marx mixed with Rainer Maria Rilke.

The lowbrow humor mixed verbose eloquence as a commentary of the relationship of the individual to there class that is being measured against and ground down by history is his fundamental creation.

How much of what we are saying is the moment expressing itself through us?

is the American prose poem writer of absurdist epics.

I have been rereading vineland the last couple of days in preparation of finally reading bleeding edge (the last of his books I have not read). First and foremost in my mind is this idea that pynchon excerpts reality like a zen master, yet, has specific opinions on the most nuanced aspects of encyclopedic knowledge.

He seems to see shadow truths literature, a idea the thing cannot escape its opposite. To name is to isolate.

Though I have a number of favourite writers, these three have been most significant. Each time I read one of their novels, I grow in understanding myself and the world I live in

That's something to celebrate.

The post-beats counterculture is a fascinating aspect of the rock n' roll generation.

, , and are for me the prose masters who directly inherited the tradition by reading it. With is an eccentric planet X, type phenomenon that is sometimes in orbit but has his own gravitational trajectory with the other writers, and sometimes not.

These writers are at once more jaded and hopeful. Rebellious and insightful. A stew of contradiction.

Something I have picked up with is that by not being able to tell when he is sincere or parodying the western tradition of literature. it creates a kind of oblivious friction where you choose how to respond to the complexities he is presenting.

there is a limit to how much info the human mind can process. and sincerity is the only safeguard against meaninglessness by the very act of being the only thing that gets you emotionally invested to continue. A type of self-actualization.

There's going to be a archive at the Huntington Library. Don't get too excited - manuscript drafts only. We won't be seeing any private letters, personal material or recent pics of Pynchon.

Inspired by ’s novel The Crying of Lot 49, I did some reading about Maxell’s Demon. I was intrigued by an argument by ’s Charles Bennett and others from the perspective of information theory. I encountered the name again last night in a textbook about . It’s pretty cool that Bennett was a pioneer i quantum cryptography and proposed the first quantum key distribution protocol (BB84).

Towards the end of ’s novel Mason & Dixon (chapter 74), Charles Mason said that he tortured his old enemy Nevil Maskelyne by teasing him to study the Brachystochrone problem, originally posed by Bernoulli in 1696. I wonder if there is a skatepark based on the Brachistochrone curve? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brachi
