The whole world in written form comes to Thorpeness in a van. Pat on the back to Suffolk County Council for still doing this, libraries are usually an early target in cuts in services.

Thorpeness Windmill on a very wet and blustery morning. Originally built in Aldringham in the early 19th century, it was brought to Thorpeness in 1923 to pump water into the House in the Clouds, the huge water tank for Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie's Edwardian holiday village. Fifty years ago, the House in the Clouds was an estate cottage, and I went to school with the daughter of the family who lived there. Now it's a horribly expensive holiday home.

This is Red House a 1920s mansion which was demolished at Thorpeness, Suffolk a couple of weeks ago due to cliff erosion.
