I put this up for people who have been diagnosed with ITP (immune thrombocytopenic purpura) and wonder, whether they should get vaccinated. (It's not easy to find relevant and reliable information in this matter.)

As people who died from brain hemorrhage after vaccination have either developed or have been diagnosed before with thrombocytopenia (I want to emphasize this: very rare cases!) - it seems natural to worry about whether it's a good idea to get vaccinated. When our family doctor phoned me and offered to get vaccinated, I had done some research already. A good starting point ist still the NYT article (last updated Feb 10, 2021) https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/08/health/immune-thrombocytopenia-covid-vaccine-blood.html that also links to the faq page of the American Society of Hematology https://www.hematology.org/covid-19/covid-19-and-itp where they recommend to get vaccinated as the risk of #covid19 disease will outweigh thrombo complications after vaccination.

So I make myself a guinea pig here: got vaccinated 27h ago, vaccine: Pfitzer/Biontech. Last blood testing was 9 month ago with a platelet score of 222 (my highest score in 15 years - so I wasn't especially worried. Usual score: 80-140).

Side effects you should look out for: petechia, blurred vision and headache that doesn't disappear after 3 days. (Side effects can occur up to 14 days after the first shot).

Current situation: I'm fine, no side effects (except for expected slight pain in the upper arm.)
