Relevant with a historical contextualization of against people.

"Madeleine was one of thousands of victims of a purge of gay and lesbian people ordered at the highest levels of the U.S. government: a program (...) that destroyed careers and lives (...). Today, it's known as the Lavender Scare (...)
We tell the story of (...) its victims, its proponents, and a man who fought for decades to end it.

Excellent podcast on the impact of wars on the collective memory of the countries involved and also of individuals. In particular, the importance of remembering not only those who died, but also the refugees, as well as understanding that the end of a war does not really have a date, since its effects remain in the memories, in the traumas, in the destructions, in the consequences.

I won’t ever think about philanthropy the same.

Listen to this podcast, if you’re intrigued. The creators look at the sordid history of abuse of labor, (anti regulation) and the ‘just give away some of your money to look good’ response.

And the elephant in the room, tax the wealthy and let taxes serve instead of NEEDING philanthropy. Wouldn’t it be amazing if our basic needs were a right?

is usually awesome, but this one was way more interesting than I expected.

"Born out of the ashes of disco in the underground clubs of Chicago by Black queer youth in the late 1970s and 80s, house has been the continued soundtrack of parties around the world...the deeper you dig into the origins of house music, the more clear it becomes that the history of house, like the history of rock and roll, is a complicated tale of Black cultural resistance."

is usually awesome and their recent one on the Whiteness Myth was especially good.

"In 1923, an Indian American man named Bhagat Singh Thind argued before the U.S. Supreme Court that he was a white man and was therefore eligible to become a naturalized citizen. He based his claim on the fact that he was a member of India's highest caste and identified as an Aryan and therefore white."

Phenomenal episode of 's on "The Whiteness Myth." A well-constructed, carefully researched piece. It begins in 1923 with Bhagat Singh Thind — an Indian American man — arguing before the U.S. Supreme Court that he was a white man and was therefore eligible to become a naturalized citizen. From there, we go into the roots of Indo-European languages, the origin of the word Aryan (and associated myths). Fascinating.
