@governa Not a terrible article; but, folks should _not_ be linking to the obviously deprecated(since 2019!!) goodies.xfce.org & instead link to the current Thunar plugin documentation at https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/start#thunar_plugins

#Thunar - My New Favorite? :linux:
(video courtesy of @thelinuxcast Be sure to Like, Comment, and Subscribe!)
the option to disable the auto expand columns, is one of my favorite features in #Thunar File Manager
In addition to testing out #Voidlinux again, I’m now also trying to become almost exclusively terminal based within my WM. So #Aerc for mail, #Tut for Mastodon, #Ranger as a FM, Neovim as a ‘DE-texteditor ‘ (so a .local/share/applications shortcut). Currently using #qutebrowser and #spotify as only exceptions and #Thunar as a fallback FM. It takes a little getting used to, although only fulltime ranger and neovim instead of neovim-qt are the only changes from my daily. But I like it!

Tema Dracula, iconos Papirus Dark, fuentes regular y monospace. El fondo de pantalla de MTG.

¡Awesome en Debian Stable!
Tema Dracula, iconos Papirus Dark, fuentes regular, sans y monospace. Utilizando nuevamente algunas aplicaciones y applets de XFCE4, como siempre el fondo de pantalla de MTG.

Seeing #Thunar takes me back to my #Openbox days. Before #Plasma, before my stint using #Cinnamon. When everyone had Conky running on their desktop
I switched because there were a few things that I wanted to Just Work without faffing with the CLI. Cinnamon provided those in a way I liked. Then I found that Plasma did similar things, but used less RAM and felt snappier.
But I've never *loved* Plasma, not like I loved Openbox and all the little panel apps I used.
And I actively dislike Dolphin.

thunar is a good file manager because it lets me copy a directory path to my terminal without having to type the whole thing out. it also just feels faster.
qubes comes with xfce, which in turn comes with thunar. but it only exists by default in dom0 and the whonix qubes; the debian and fedora use GNOME files instead. which isn't a bad file manager by any means, but aside from an easily-fixed issue with opening the terminal, thunar feels more convenient and useful so far.

I mostly use #ranger and #terminal commands but wonder which one to use as lightweight gui option. What is your favorite file manager on #Linux #thunar #caja #pcmanfm ? #opensource #filemanager

@joeyh I think I will make a command-line script to assemble old versions of a file into a folder and also add this functionality to my #Thunar plugins package (https://pypi.org/project/thunar-plugins/).
git log --follow --patch FILE
contains all needed info for this.
@wolfeh :gitannex: #gitAnnex is made by @joeyh and it's a thing of beauty.
Especially for media files the metadata-driven views are awesome - editable folder structures according to metadata (author, artist, album, whatever):

I made a #Thunar plugin that let's you access many git annex goodies, here's a small screencast:
