Hotspot Sunrise.
This is the fascinating valley of Haukadalur, where mudpots and fumeroles boil and bubble. This is Strokkur as the sun was rising, just as its superheated steam burst through.
It's such a popular place that this might be one of the only times of day to have it all to yourself!

Road to Seyðisfjörður.
The mountain road between Egilsstaðir - the "capital of the East" - and the ferry port at Seyðisfjörður is named Fjarðarheiði. This pass is at an elevation of 623m (2043ft) above sea level and contains multiple hairpin bends. As this pass can be shrouded in fog or deep in snow (check the height of the roadside snow markers!) we were very lucky to be there on a cold but clear day in November 2021.
The frozen lake on the left is Heiðarvatn.

The goldfinches then all dispersed into my garden onto the lilac trees to eat the seed heads. Couldn’t photo that well as the sun was right behind and they moved so quick.
