Begin jaren 90 speelt hij ook in wat films.
Tot de reünie van #TheStooges leeft hij nog bij zijn moeder, en werd hij al eens een bier drinkende wapengek genoemd.
Op 6 januari 2009 vindt de politie hem in zijn bed, al een paar dagen eerder gestorven aan een hartaanval.
#SonicYouth draagt #TheEternal aan hem op.

Thurston is de zoon van een muziekprofressor en krijgt thuis muziek met de paplepel ingegoten.
Op de universiteit rolt hij, in 1976, in de #punk en #newwave muziekscene van NYC.
In 1980 gaat hij samen wonen met zijn vriendin #KimGordon die hij dat jaar ontmoet op een optreden van #TheCoachman, waarvan hij deel uitmaakt samen met illustrator #JDking.
Hij ontmoet tijdens die optredens ook #LeeRonaldo van de band #TheFlucts.

Ze zal ook meer beginnen werken als sessiemuzikante, dit onder meer op de albums van #TimBurgess en #AnnWaldman.
Er werd een nieuw project en #allfemale band aangekondigd die ze samen met #BrixSmith opstart.

In 1993 richt ze de band #FreeKitten op, ondertussen produceert ze albums voor andere artiesten zoals Hole.
En richt ze de firma #XGirl op, met Streetwear voor vrouwen.
Ze is een legende binnen de rock en buiten haar bassstijl wordt ze geroemd voor haar altstem en bereik.
