Rail firms admit elderly and disabled at risk of crime if #ticketoffices close
Documents written by the rail companies themselves lay bare the true impact of the railway ticket office closures on disabled, elderly and vulnerable passengers

Train companies in #UK are proposing to close #TicketOffices. This will make life so much harder for vulnerable people, those with disabilities and the elderly.
#Railways are for everyone, and people should be put before profit. Have your say by emailing the address for your local stations train company at the link below.

I've just emailed train operators in England, telling them to keep our ticket offices open! Can you join in too on @organisehq? https://the.organise.network/campaigns/email-train-operators-ticket-office-closures-england?utm_campaign=bjFiRs3ZtV&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=share

One thing that hasn't been mentioned (I think) in the UK #TicketOffices closure discussion is the idea of extending their functions.
Example.
On a recent trip to Liverpool we had to come back by bus. No National Express office in the city. Why not add the function (with adequate staffing) at Lime Street station.
Could also add tourist office functions like accommodation.
Update, 26 July 2023: Consultation on mass closure of railway station ticket offices in England has been extended to 1 September.
The RMT union has a campaign page with links to submit a template email to each of the railway companies.

"Section 29 of the Railways Act 2005 sets out a very clear and detailed process which must be followed if a train operating company proposes to close a station or any part of a station. That process has simply not been followed in this instance. It requires a 12-week consultation."

The plans to close almost all station ticket offices is a backward and discriminatory step.

There are many digitally excluded people, especially in the disabled community.
They are ignored. The decision to shut #railway #ticketoffices just reduces our world that little bit more. https://twitter.com/drfrancesryan/status/1675790664569692160
