https://tilde.institute is an excellent #Tilde server that runs #OpenBSD, offering shell access, web space (with your own subdomain instead of tilde subdirectory, which is a nice touch). It's a great way to learn and run OpenBSD.

I've kinda been wanting to get into #pubnixes lately. I've been looking at SDF as well as some #tilde communities like ~vern and members of the #tildeverse, but am not 100% what to look for.

Does anyone with more knowledge about these things have any recommendations, resources or useful information for me?

Basicly you ssh into a server with many users and do whatever you want with it. Usually there’s IRC, email and public_html available plus many other services for having fun and communicating with others.

The name comes from the “~” character which gets prepended to the username in a users website URL on the server, e.g.: https://tilde.team/~ryuu/

Still wondering why an editor like the #tilde text editor is not as popular as #vim or even #emacs. Not just easier to quit, but feels like using gedit or notepad from a terminal session. Yes, it uses Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V for copy and paste. And mouse support.

Again, I'm happy on #IRC and using the good old #nano text editor. The most sophisticated editors I use is #Tilde or if I'm feeling fancy, maybe #Pluma.

About #GitHub, it's the same story of #Discord, simply convenient to have everyone at the same place and able to send PRs.

I used to host my own Git stuff using #Gogs. Good times.
