I'm sorry as I really am loving #RiverWM but I do find myself looking back at the #Qtile git repo all the time in the hope that a new release has dropped with improved #Wayland support. Because atm and it's my fault totally for loving bleeding edge but building with Wayland support right now just doesn't happen due to ongoing dev / changes for the next release.
Am I the only person that feels like this ?

Definitely a must read thanks to @lhp if you're tinkering with #RiverWM and wondering if it could become your next daily. There's a interesting section which explains what modes are and I'd say that locked mode allowing multimedia keys to still work when the lock state is entered is pretty useful.

[dwm] I've decided to try dwm as my first tiling wm, I'm slowly getting the hang of it, i hope so at-least, its only been a few hours there are some kinks I'm trying to work out but I'm loving it so far 👍 P.S music player is "musikcube" fetch is "nitch" and terminal is "alacritty"

Switched from #xmonad to #i3.
and I am loving it (so far)!
It's nice once you understand how to control (split/rearrange etc) the window panes.

These concepts were pretty useful in my journey
- Containers
- layouts (stacked, tabbed layout)

I missed the master pane concept though, not gonna lie.

I guess there's a lot more to learn.

Weird #macOS question - is it possible to have one external display be controlled by a floating window manager, and another external display use a #tilingwindowmanager for specific applications?

I'd love to have my design software adjustable and my communication stuff - slack, imessage, discord, etc - all set to a dedicated monitor that tiles so I can adjust the size of the "primary" comms I need to focus on while still having access to my personal comms throughout the day.

Or is this a "just use #linux" type ask?

The #NewYear is almost here and my first task will be trying something new: a #TilingWindowManager. I’ve never actually used one. Last time I saw people using one regularly was at university 🏫. Now that I have an #Ultrawide monitor, I’ll really benefit from the space organization they provide 🖥️.

I'm a big fan of #XMonad been using it exclusively for several years, haven't felt the need to switch to #Wayland yet.

I tried a few other #TilingWindowManager like #i3 and #awesome but their mental model didn't quite fit me the way Xmonad did. If I recall correctly, what they did was give each screen their own workspace numbering -- whereas I prefer what xmonad does with a global numbering that's shared across all screens.

I use #ArchLinux and I love it, but I have to concede if you don't want maintenance, then Arch isn't the distro for you.

If you want to experiment with different UIs, then the distro you pick doesn't matter that much. What you really want, is to experiment with a different #WindowManager .

You can try a #TilingWindowManager like https://awesomewm.org/ or https://i3wm.org/ on Ubuntu (or any other distro, really).

Alternatively, give the https://pop.system76.com/ distro a look.
