Phew. Just watched #TillMovie, about the murder/lynching of 14-year-old Emmet Till in 1955 Mississippi. I wasn't sure I'd be able to handle it. It was tough viewing to be sure but done extraordinarily well, such that you could experience the horror and injustice with the firm gaze and steel character of Mamie Till herself.

Highly recommend, especially for white people on the #antiracist journey -- and for those who need to be.

It’s as bleak and as depressing as you think it will be.
The most depressing part is that you take away the 1950s cars and clothes, it could be today. The sequel #Nichols will be coming soon.

#TillMovie gave me goosebumps. It dealt a sensitive subject matter with tact, good taste and historical merit, without losing its biting commentary on racial injustice. Its theatrics of reflection produce a balance of grim and hope and of grace and grit.

Her strength is that of a steel.
